From retired ballet dancer to coffee connoisseur to the hard streets of New York fashion. Tobey fell in love with the ethos and DNA of The Tailory. They are your point of contact for anything logistics.

Florence graduated top of her class from Academy of Art in San Francisco. She moved to NYC to be in the center of the best fashion city in the world. Florence will be there every step of the design process.
A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER
The idea for The Tailory New York began when I decided to direct my years of fashion design and men’s tailoring experience towards my own wardrobe. As a pantsuit aficionado and a lover of men’s fashion and tailoring, I was always drawn to tailored clothing and strived to create fashion that conveyed the same message of confidence that a perfectly custom-tailored suit did for men.
Style icons like Sean Connery and Cary Grant, as well as modern-day 007 Daniel Craig (shaken not stirred), were always my style inspirations. To me, they are the epitome of refinement and sophistication, true gentlemen in style. My passion for fashion and tailoring led me through the Fashion Design program at Parsons followed by stints in custom tailoring, fashion design, fashion styling, and brand development.
But the more I integrated myself in the industry, the more I realized that impeccable fit, for men and women, was almost impossible to find in ready to wear clothing. So in 2013, I launched The Tailory New York as a way for me to combine my two passions: Fashion Design and Custom Tailoring. Everyone wants to look their best and having a wardrobe curated to your body and lifestyle not only enables you to look your best but makes you feel your best.

HOW IT WORKS
First time getting fitted for a custom women’s suit or outfit? We make the process as seamless as possible. Here it is step-by-step, and as always, contact us if you have any questions.
CHOOSE YOUR FABRIC, LINING, & TRIM
Browse our extensive selection of premium quality fabrics. We source from the best mills in Italy and the UK and have a wide selection of 100% cashmeres, 100% wools as well as wool blends, 100% silk and silk blends. After fabric selection, we move on to select complimentary linings, buttons and trims. Do not worry if you are uncertain what to choose, our designer will work with you from the beginning to ensure you are selecting the best fabrics and trims to achieve the perfect custom women’s suit or outfit for you.
DESIGN YOUR CUSTOM SUIT OR OUTFIT
Get down to the styling details with your designer and design a custom women’s suit or outfit that conveys who you are. Comprehensive detailing inclusive of jacket shape, length, shoulders, outside pockets, inside pockets, sleeve buttons and much more. We were not kidding when we say we will design your custom women’s suit or outfit from top to bottom and inside out.
GET MEASURED
We collect 45+ measurements that are a mix of your physical dimensions, the desired dimensions of your custom suit or outfit, as well as posture and fit analysis. For our virtual clients, we take your measurements virtually with our 3D measurement app.
TRY-ON GARMENT
We will draft your pattern and create your try-on garment based on your measurements profile. Once completed, we will do a full bespoke fitting to ensure optimal fit before we cut into your real fabric and create you custom suit. This is a complementary service that we provide and you are not obligated to add this step to your bespoke journey.
TRY ON
Approximately 8-10 weeks later, you will be back in our studios to try on your custom women’s suit or outfit for the first time. Our in-house master tailor and your designer will go over the fit and determine what alterations are needed if there are any. Yes, sometimes we hit home-runs and no alterations are needed and you can take your garments home with you. If alterations are needed, our tailors can turn it around in 2-3 weeks. For our virtual clients, we will ship the custom suit or outfit to you after completion and our team will access the fit with you via Zoom. A return label is always included for you to send the custom suit or outfit back to us for alterations.
FINAL TRY ON
Usually, only one round of alterations is needed and the final try on is just a fit check and you can take your garments home. If additional alterations are needed, we will of course take care of that for you. We also offer rush services where we can turn around custom women’s suits and outfits in 4 weeks and alterations in 2 days.

Who are your clients?
Everybody is our client! We pride ourselves on making custom suits and clothing for everybody and every body. Our clients are made up of all shapes, sizes, presentation and gender identity. We created a safe space for all to come in and create custom suits and clothing that affirms them and let them live their true authentic selves.
What type of materials do you use?
We have a very extensive library of fabric books. Our essential house fabrics range from Super 120s to Super 150s wool. Our Mid-Tier and Premium fabrics are sourced from Italy, the UK, Australia and France. These selections include renowned mills like Loro Piana, Vitale Barberies Canonico, Dormeuil, Style Biella, Huddersfield and Escorial to name a few. We also source premium silks and speciality fabrics from Italy for our wedding garments like custom tuxedos, custom dresses, custom jumpsuits and custom gowns.
Our cotton shirting collections include fabrics from Thomas Mason, Albini and Loro Piana.
Custom printing, dying and embellishments is also available.
What type of clothing do you make?

What is your custom outfit making process?
Before your appointment whether it is In-Person or virtual, we will reach out to get to know you and explore what you are looking for so we can make the process as bespoke and enjoyable as possible. Once we meet, the process is very seamless and it goes like this…

DESIGN YOUR GARMENT
Get down to the styling details with your designer and design a custom clothing or wardrobe that conveys who you are. Our process is 100% custom to you and your desired garment so nothing is off the table and everything is attainable. Whether it is a custom suit or a custom gown, your designer will work with your to design your garment from inside out and top to bottom.
GET MEASURED
We collect 35+ measurements that are a mix of your physical dimensions, the desired dimensions of your garment, as well as posture and fit analysis. For our virtual clients, we will capture their measurements via our 3D measuring app.
TRY ON
Approximately 8-10 weeks later, you will be back in our studios to try on your garment for the first time. Our in-house master tailor and your designer will go over the fit and determine what alterations are needed if there are any. Yes, sometimes we hit home-runs and no alterations are needed and you can leave with your garment. If alterations are needed, our tailors can turn it around in 2-3 weeks.
For our virtual clients, we will ship the garments to you after completion and we will access the fit with you via Zoom. A return label is always included for you to send the garments back to us for alterations.

Do you only make custom and bespoke suits?
We specialize in making custom and bespoke suits but this also includes jumpsuits and pretty much any other garments that you need. We also offer tailoring and alternations to repair, resize and restyle your favorite attire.
Do you have any design limitations?
The sky’s the limit! We have no design limitations and will apply any and every of your design choices to the custom garment(s).
Can I make purchases online?
Yes! On the upper right corner, you can “SHOP” on our Shopify storefront. When purchased, someone from our team will reach out to gather your specific measurements, apply them to the pattern, and have the garments shipped to you.
