Hello, and Welcome to The Tailory New York.

My name is Shao Yang, and I am the Creative Director and Founder of The Tailory New York. I immigrated from Taiwan to the United States at the age of five, as early as I can remember, I dreamt of becoming a fashion designer.

After graduating in 2002 from Parsons School of Design with a degree in (what else) Fashion Design, I furthered my studies, working with several master tailors and other designers.

While the concept of bespoke tailoring is ancient, The Tailory New York provides a fresh approach to a sometimes overwhelming and stuffy process.

Upon entering our Atelier located in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan features a full bar, velvet plush couches, warm and intimate lighting. This intimacy combined with the design team’s unparalleled skill set immediately takes the client from mundane retail therapy to the ultimate royal treatment.

Why Bespoke?

While attending Parsons, many of my classmates focused on trends and streetwear, but I was taken by the precision and profound global history of bespoke tailoring. For thousands of years, the world’s most discerning and wealthiest people have insisted on custom design. Lucky for us all, these services are now available to everyone regardless of gender, race, geography, and economics. Over the past ten years, The Tailory New York has become one of the world’s most sought after ateliers from New York to Dubai, across Europe and Asia, in providing bespoke services to the LGBTQIA+ community.

A Bespoke Experience is like the difference between flying Private and First Class in comparison to Coach

Our clients are part of the design process, from selecting the fabrics to discussing points they would like to minimize and/or celebrate, color selection, and much more.

The superiority of our fabrics, to the keen design details provides a newfound confidence for each unique client. The pieces are forever heritage pieces, whether it is a custom jacket for work, or an evening out, to wedding gowns, suitings, tuxedos and more.

We look forward to welcoming you at The Tailory New York.

Sincerely,

Shao Yang
