Grant’s gold and teal kimono jacket brings Brunello fabric, Issey Miyake inspiration, and personal details into bespoke wedding dressing.

Wedding attire should leave room for personality. For Grant, that meant gold, teal, a kimono silhouette, and the freedom to experiment.

At The Tailory New York, we worked with Grant to create a bespoke wedding jacket using a gold and teal Brunello fabric selected together. Inspired by Issey Miyake, the design developed through collaborative fittings and finished with gold hardware closures and small chains. Every decision brought Grant’s personal style into the wedding look.

Brunello Fabric for a Bespoke Wedding Jacket

Grant’s jacket began with the fabric. Selecting the gold and teal Brunello material together established the palette and gave the design a clear starting point.

When creating a bespoke wedding jacket, fabric selection and silhouette develop together. For Grant’s piece, the Brunello fabric remained central as we explored the shape, refined the fit, and considered the finishing details.

The gold and teal combination also gave us room to play with hardware, connecting the fabric’s colors with the jacket’s closures and chains.

Creating an Issey Miyake-Inspired Wedding Kimono Jacket

An Issey Miyake-inspired kimono jacket became the direction for Grant’s bespoke piece. From there, the design evolved organically through each fitting.

Seeing the jacket on Grant allowed us to explore proportions and make adjustments together. There was room for ideas to develop throughout the process, with Grant actively involved in shaping the finished piece.

That exchange is one of the pleasures of bespoke wedding attire: fabric, fit, and personal taste all contribute to a garment created for one individual.

Personal Details for a Nontraditional Wedding Look

Gold hardware closures and small chains became some of the jacket’s most personal elements. Grant enjoyed experimenting with these details, adding another layer of expression to the Brunello fabric and kimono silhouette.

For anyone exploring nontraditional wedding attire, those smaller choices deserve attention. A closure, a color combination, or a piece of hardware can help make a wedding outfit feel deeply personal.

Grant’s jacket brought these elements together with a sense of play that made the collaboration such a joy.

Wedding Alterations to Complete Grant’s Wardrobe

Alongside the bespoke jacket, Grant brought in pants and a gold jacket from an existing wardrobe for alterations.

We adjusted those pieces for the wedding day, giving familiar favorites the same attention to fit as the new commission. Bespoke design and alterations worked together to prepare a wardrobe connected by Grant’s own style.
